Two area residents have been appointed to state commissions by Governor Tim Walz. Marty Duncan of St. Peter has been appointed as a superintendent member to the Minnesota State Academies, the governing board for the state academies for the deaf and the blind. Bonnie Danberry of Mankato was been appointed as an advocate for the Statewide Independent Living Council. State officials say the council is a federally mandated council under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act which jointly develops and signs the State Plan for Independent Living.
