The Mankato City Council gave its approval to submit a redevelopment grant application to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development at its meeting Monday night. The city is seeking up to 222-thousand five hundred dollars to redevelop a 16-acre parcel in the Sibley Park neighborhood. City officials say developers plan to build on a two-story, 7800 square foot wine production facility on the same site where a concrete plant closed a decade ago. The city says the state grants will likely be awarded in March.
