State Senator Nick Frentz of North Mankato is the co-chair of the Senate DFL Clean Energy and Climate Caucus. Frentz is calling on senate republican leadership to hold hearings on the issue.

“We have to establish how urgent the problem is,” said Frentz. “One of the things we’re asking the senate to do is to hold hearings on climate change. From there we can talk about how to fix the problem.”

Frentz says the state needs to look into future generations when discussing this issue.

“Sometimes senators will suggest things like a carbon tax that have a short term cost to society but protects us long-term,” said Frentz. “Let’s be conservative in this risk and protect our kids and grandkids.”

The legislative session will begin on February 11th.
