State Representative Jeff Brand of St.Peter says there needs to be cooperation for a bonding bill to pass the legislature this year. Brand says it was frustrating that the senate did not hold any hearings on bonding the last session.

“Part of the problem was they never took the opportunity to hear some of the ideas,” said Brand. “This year I hope they will meet to hear the obligation and the opportunity to help the regions across the state.”

Any bonding bill needs a supermajority of the legislature to pass. The Minnesota legislative session begins on February 11th. Governor Walz and Senate Republicans are one billion dollars apart on their bonding proposals.
