A revised plan for a downtown hotel in Mankato went before the city’s economic development authority Monday night. City manager Pat Hentges says the developer has seen increased cost estimates for building on the parking ramp on Cherry Street.

“He’s asking for the city to focus its abatement to cover the difference in additional cost which is about nine hundred thousand dollars,” said Hentges. “In addition, he’s looking for Blue Earth County, with their share of the tax abatement, to cover some parking replacement in the downtown area.”

Hentges says the changes will delay city action.

“It probably delays any final decision until March,” said Hentges.

Downtown Mankato Properties is planning to build a 117-room Marriott Hotel in that area.
