While impeachment and foreign policy have received most of the headlines in Washington, DC recently, quietly the Senate Finance Committee approved the US-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement earlier this week. Minnesota Senator Tina Smith it’s a positive thing for the state.
“This bill will do important things for Minnesota agriculture,” said Smith. “It’s a significant improvement over the old NAFTA deal and it’s even an improvement over the original deal reached by the administration. I’m hoping for a chance to vote for the deal sooner rather than later.”
The House passed the agreement prior to the Christmas break.
