While trade wars presented a lot of challenges to agriculture in 2019, the weather was the main headache for producers according to Kent Thiesse with MinnStar Bank. Thiesse says many farmers didn’t fully complete the harvest a year ago.
“According to the latest USDA report, six to seven percent of the corn is still in the field,” said Thiesse.
Thiesse says weather is the main concern for producers entering 2020.
“Whether or not we’ll be able to plant on a timely basis or whether the weather challenges of 2019 will carry over to 2020,” said Thiesse.
Thiesse says the immediate area is in better shape than many other parts of the state.
