Waseca police officer Arik Matson was shot in the line of duty Monday night. Matson is listed in serious but stable at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale. Waseca Police Chief Penny Vought says called the situation a department’s worst nightmare but says they still have a job to do.

“We have to remind strong and diligent. We still have a job to do. We’re still going to respond to calls in the city but we have to help each other too,” said Vought.

The suspect, 37-year-old Tyler Janovsky of Waseca was shot twice and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading the investigation.
