Kent Thiesse of MinnStar Bank says the Ag economy is optimistic with pending trade deals with Canada, Mexico, and China. But Thiesse says last week’s international events are presenting some new challenges.

“The troubles in the Middle East have created a lot of uncertainty in a lot of things and the Ag markets haven’t been immune to that,” said Thiesse. “We saw the grain market dip a good amount Friday after the incident in Iraq.”

Thiesse says if a trade deal with China is finalized that will have a bigger impact than the US-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement, but he says if both deals are finalized it will be a positive thing for agriculture.
