A man was arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle and crashing the vehicle into a building in Delavan Saturday night. The Fairbault County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old William Scheler was arrested after being found hiding in a shed behind a residence in Delavan. Authorities say they were notified of a stolen vehicle in Wells shortly after ten p.m. The Sheriff’s office says the vehicle was located on Minnesota highway 109 around ten-30 and a pursuit ensued reaching speeds of about one hundred miles per hour. Authorities say the pursuit ended when the vehicle was found abandoned in Delavan after it crashed into a building in an alleyway and Scheler was found a short time later. The case remains under investigation. Authorities believe narcotic use is believed to be a factor in the case.
