Flu activity in the Mankato school district has been very typical so far. District director of student services Scott Hare says they haven’t seen anything out of the ordinary but they are monitoring the situation closely. Hare says if any classroom has three or more absences in a single day, they work closely with their custodial staff to make sure that the room gets thoroughly wiped down at the end of the day. Hare says the district’s nurses also work closely with the families of students who are absent to make sure they don’t return to school too soon, possibly passing their illness onto other students.
