This time of year, many people are making New Year’s resolutions and many times those resolutions deal with goals to be healthier. Health coach Dawn Naples with Profile by Sanford says to be realistic about your goals.

“Ditch the all or nothing mentality. It’s not going to work,” said Naples. “Make a plan and have a conversation with yourself about implementing the plan.”

Danette Peterson is a dietician with Profile by Sanford. She says persons need to ask themselves some serious questions before making resolutions.

“You have to be ready to make a change,” said Peterson. “You can think about it, then you can make a plan. But don’t set yourself up to fail because that doesn’t help anyone.”

Peterson says it takes 21 days to change a habit and persons enacting a plan should expect progress, not perfection.
