Many lawmakers have discussed the possibility of a bonding bill in the upcoming legislative session. State Senator Nick Frentz of North Mankato says it’s not a guarantee that it will happen.

“I would like to tell you I’m optimistic,” said Frentz. “Having said that a reminder, the bonding bill needs a supermajority to pass. That means both parties have to have some buy-in if there’s disagreement, and that’s where the rubber meets the road.”

Frentz says the recently announced one-point-three billion-dollar budget surplus provides the state some flexibility regarding the issue.
