An open house was held last night for the new Maverick All-Sports Dome on the Minnesota State Mankato campus. MSU athletic director Kevin Buisman project has been a long time in the works.
“I remember having conversations about this a decade ago, ” said Buisman. “It’s great to see this come to fruition.”
Buisman says the dome will provide a variety of community and college use.
“We’ve got kids tossing the football around, soccer, frisbee,” said Buisman. “Our football team will practice in here this week, we host regional soccer in here this weekend, so it’s already getting a great deal of use.”
College officials say the dome will be inflated from November first through May first every year. The rest of the year, it will be an unlit outdoor field. The dome can be rented weekday mornings, weekdays after five p.m. and weekends, scheduling around University usage.
