New home construction in North Mankato was steady this year, but city administrator John Harrenstein believes the city can do more.

“We need to consider adding senior housing options,” said Harrenstein. “But we also need to continue to add single-family and multi-family housing units to meet the demand of both families and young professionals that are locating here.”

Harrenstein says there were 25 new homes built last year in North Mankato and he would like that total to be 35 to 40 in future years.
