Mayo Clinic Health System has released a statement regarding (Thursday’s) planned picket at Mayo Clinic Mankato by the Minnesota Nurses Association. Mayo Regional Chief Nursing Officer Laura Evenson said Mayo has approached the negotiations with the Minnesota Nurses Association in good faith and with a commitment to positive outcomes for patients, nurses and the hospital. Evenson says Mayo believes the bargaining should continue, but they believe what they’re calling the MNA’s demand to allow an unlimited number of observers who are not part of the elected negotiating team to be present and participate in the process would not lead to productive negotiations. Evenson said Mayo has offered two potential dates to continue negotiations with the MNA this month, but have not yet heard a response. Evenson said Mayo respects the right of employees to peacefully express their position and they remain committed to bargaining in good faith.
