The Mankato City Council has rejected a plan to change the way it collects tax for gambling. The council was considering a resolution that would have dropped a three percent lawful gambling regulatory tax with a 5.5 percent net contribution tax. City officials the reason the change was being proposed was the 5.5 percent tax could have been used for charitable activity, while the current three percent tax can only be used to regulate lawful gambling.
