The Eagle Lake City Council took no action on a plan to restructure the city’s police force at its meeting Monday night. City administrator Jennifer Bromeland says the council voted to do more research on the topic, including a staffing analysis and comparisons to other cities. The council was reviewing a proposal to eliminate the police chief’s position, contract with the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office to hire a chief law enforcement officer to fulfill administrative duties and add a third full-time officer to the department. The council will continue the discussion on the issue at its December second meeting.
