The second-annual “State of Lung Cancer” report shows Minnesota has some of the best lung cancer survival rates in the country.


“Minnesota actually ranks third-best in the nation for survival rates at 26-percent. The national average is about 22-percent.”


Pat McKone with the American Lung Association says what most people might not realize is:


“Lung cancer is the number one type of cancer that kills more men and women than any other type of cancer.”


McKone says part of the reason lung cancer is so deadly is that cases are diagnosed at a later stage after the disease has spread.
