An expansion of Highway 14 from Nicollet to New Ulm was not among the projects selected for federal road funding. The U.S. Highway 14 Partnership made the announcement Tuesday afternoon. The Partnership had worked with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to apply for 25 million dollars in federal road funding. After receiving the news, Highway 14 advocates are calling on Governor Walz and the Minnesota Legislature to fund the project in 2020. The 12-mile stretch between Nicollet and New Ulm is the final stretch of Highway 14 that remains unfunded between New Ulm and Rochester. Ground was broken in November first on an expansion of Highway 14 between Owatonna and Dodge Center.
