The city of Mankato currently has four feasibility studies taking place to improve youth sports facilities. Mankato city manager Pat Hentges says the city council will receive summaries of all studies at its December ninth meeting. He says from there some tough decisions will need to be made.

“We collect almost five and a million dollars in sales taxes every year, but we’re also paying off debt, ” said Hentges. “So to do a large project we would have to borrow and we only have so much sales tax to borrow against.”

Hentges says the studies include pools, a youth softball field, a youth baseball complex and a new hockey arena to add to the number of sheets at all seasons area.
