The North Mankato City Council will hold a public hearing regarding the city’s local sales and use tax at its meeting tonight. The city is considering repealing and replacing the current tax to close any potential loopholes in the language. The action is being taken after the League of Minnesota Cities contacted North Mankato and other cities to inform them of the loopholes that allowed Internet sales not to be collected. The meeting will begin at seven p.m. at the Municipal Building.
