A six month-long investigation across three metro counties led to five pounds of heroin being taken off the streets by the Southwest Metro Drug Task Force.  The investigation also led to the arrest of three suspects on Oct. 21 and resulted in two additional people being charged for drug-related crimes, including first-degree possession and sale.

Taskforce officers served warrants in Hennepin, Ramsey and Carver counties following a six-month investigation. Five pounds of heroin has a street value of more than $200,000 but more importantly, takes a significant amount of drugs off the street. The 5 pounds seized is equivalent to one-fifth of the total amount seized last year by statewide Drug Task Force Teams (25 pounds)
