United Way’s “Greater Mankato Grateful Giving” activity kicks off November 1 as a way for community members to be mindful of what they have and give back to local organizations fighting hunger and homelessness.
Each day in November, community members are encouraged to make a small donation for things they may take for granted (e.g., “Deposit $0.50 if you know where your next meal is coming from.”). At the end of the month, participants donate the money to a local organization of their choice. A list of suggested organizations is included with the calendar.
Participants can download the calendar on the Greater Mankato Area United Way website or follow the Greater Mankato Grateful Giving Facebook page for the daily activity and information on regional poverty.
