Governor Tim Walz will travel the state and get a first-hand look at bonding projects in Minnesota over the next few months. Communities are requesting more than $5 billion for infrastructure fixes…

“That does not even scratch the surface of what the needs are, but it starts to list their priorities, these have gone steadily up, we missed the opportunity last year to do a bonding bill, but the situation is still good, where interest rates are low, the capacity to be able to do these projects is there.”

Last year, a bonding bill with a price tag of nearly $1.3 billion did not get across the finish line. And unlike other bills, bonding projects require a supermajority of legislators to pass. Some Republican state lawmakers are proposing breaking the larger proposal into several smaller bills next session.
