Governor Tim Walz announces a statewide push for a bonding bill this morning (Wednesday at 10am) at the University of Minnesota’s Institute of Child Development, one of the projects which would benefit from it. House Democratic Majority Leader Ryan Winkler said last month that given the need…

…”I think a bill north of two billion dollars is well within the realm of reasonable.”

Senate bonding committee Chairman, Rochester Republican Dave Senjem disagreed:

“I will tell you, it will be nowhere close to two billion dollars. That would be completely out of line from the standpoint of our budget targets.”

Democrats and Republicans could not agree on a bonding bill during a special session at the end of May, but the issue will be back on their plates in the 2020 session which begins next February.
