This weekend western Minnesota could get a blast of winter weather. MN-Dot’s Anne Meyer says if it happens, they are ready to keep the roads clear thanks to an extensive readiness program that’s been underway for two months.

“In August and September, we start doing our winter prep meetings throughout the state, we do some training with our snowplow operators. We get our equipment ready and our material stocks because we don’t know when that first snowfall is going to happen. So we want to make sure we’re prepared.”

Meyer says they also encourage drivers to get into a winter mindset behind the wheel and always remember to keep plenty of room between yourself and other vehicles.
