This week is Safe Sleep Week, focusing on proper sleeping practices for infants. Dr. Courtney Jordan-Baechler with the Minnesota Department of health says they see a troubling trend in the causes of sudden infant deaths in 2016 and 2017.
“82 percent or a total of 74 of the deaths were sleep-related in un-safe sleep environments.”
Jordan-Baechler says a goal of this week is to educate parents on proper infant sleep practices.
“It’s critical that infants sleep alone, that they sleep on their back and that they sleep in a crib or play yard without blankets or pillows.”
