Cases of the flu have been sporadic so far in Minnesota. But Jennifer Heath with the state Department of Health says now is the time to get your shot. She says getting your kids vaccinated is highly recommended:

“I know that some people are hesitant about shots, but here’s the thing: children are at higher risk for complications of influenza, they also get influenza at higher rates than adults, so they are an especially important population to get vaccinated.”

Heath says the flu mist is being offered this year. She says it’s a good alternative for kids who don’t like the traditional shots.
