President Trump is tweeting today about his upcoming visit to Minnesota and taking pokes at Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.
The president calls Frey a “radical left mayor” and he’s criticizing Frey and city officials for saying the president’s campaign is responsible for $530,000 in security and other costs for his Thursday rally at Target Center. Trump also says he stands by police and law enforcement and complimented the Minneapolis Police officers union for the t-shirts it’s selling that read “Cops for Trump”. The shirts became available after the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) banned officers from wearing their uniforms in support of candidates at political events or in ads.
Frey responds: Trump can afford to “pay the extra time our officers will be putting in while he’s in town.” Trump’s campaign has threatened to sue the city of Minneapolis and Target Center for breach of contract.
