During routine water flushing operations at 10:15 p.m. last night, Mankato city staff smelled smoke and reported a structure fire to 911. Public Safety firefighters were dispatched to 2410 Volk Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered smoke coming from windows and eaves. They determined no one was home and extinguished the fire.
There were no injuries. Damages are estimated at $60,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
