A second mental health counselor has been hired to work directly with Minnesota farmers. The funding was approved by the legislature. Kevin Paap is head of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation says farmers are dealing with a lot of unknowns:
“When you have things out of your control…certainly the weather is out of our control, markets — it gets not only financially but emotionally challenging. Especially things that happen that you don’t expect.”
Monica McConkey will begin working with northern Minnesota farmers on October 1st. She has more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health as a counselor.
