Minnesota Democratic Senator Tina Smith and South Dakota Republican Senator Mike Rounds have formed a working group focused on rural economic development. Smith says while touring cities across Minnesota majority agreed high-speed internet is a must:

“If you don’t have broadband you’re not gonna be able to recruit and retain young families that want to move back to small towns but really expect to have broadband so that they can work remotely or their kids can do their homework.”

Smith says she and Senator Rounds will take all the community feedback to Washington D.C. with hopes of securing funding for improvement projects.
