EDINA, Minn. (AP) – The mother of a former student at Countryside Elementary School in Edina is suing the district, saying staff members violated policy when they subjected her child to a search. The alleged incident happened in the 2017-18 school year when the student was in second grade. The lawsuit says school staff strip-searched the student without notifying parents and without proper cause. The Edina Public Schools district is denying the allegations, calling the claims inaccurate and misleading.
