Minnesota volunteers with the American Red Cross are heading south to help in the aid effort as Hurricane Dorian hits.

“Right now we’re sending 12 volunteers down to Florida, as we’ve seen on the news, hurricane Dorian is on its way to Florida so we’re pre-positioning them to make sure we have people in the right places for when it does make landfall.”

Spokesman Jason Bengston says the volunteers will help in emergency shelters helping people who are displaced. He says many more volunteers will be deployed when the storm makes landfall. Minnesotans who want to help can make a $10 donation by texting “DORIAN” to 90999.
