Apply to volunteer on Mankato’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). CERT volunteers are trained to take active roles during emergency situations to help others in their neighborhood and community. They also help with large city events, such as concerts at Riverfront Park. There are 20 hours of classroom and hands-on training. Sessions will be held at Mankato’s Public Safety Center, 710 South Front Street, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesdays, September 17 and 24; and October 1, 8 and 15.
