Eight people were injured this morning (Thurs) — three seriously — after a charter bus veered off an entrance ramp to a major Twin Cities highway, continued down a grass embankment, hit a median wall, and was struck by another bus from Little Falls that was taking 51 people to the State Fair. State Patrol Lieutenant Gordon Shank:

“We’re still investigating what happened and specifics that caused the driver to make that left into the grass instead of using the roadway and the ramp to get on.”

Shank says that vehicle was from Lorenz Bus Service in Blaine and only the driver was on board. The other bus carrying passengers was from Andy’s Charter Service in Little Falls. In addition to eight people sent to the hospital, two dozen more were treated for bumps and bruises. The crash happened on Highway 280 near the Minneapolis/Saint Paul border (at the Hennepin/Larpenteur Avenue exit).
