Officials in McLeod County are assessing damage and plotting the path of a tornado that hit the Silver Lake area in central Minnesota on Sunday. Emergency Management Director Kevin Mathews:

“We’re gathering information as far as starting points (and) end points of the damages and where the tornado tracked, and we’re gonna be able to tell how strong the winds were at that point.”

Also on Sunday as many as nine homes were damaged by a tornado near Scandia in the far northeast metro, but no injuries reported. Across the border in Polk County, Wisconsin, a possible tornado ripped through an area that had already spent the weekend cleaning up from storms that rolled through just the week before.
