The American Red Cross is launching “A Missing Types” campaign to address the unmet need for blood and how donors can help save lives.

“It’s really about raising awareness for lifesaving blood donations this summer, so we’re urging the public to make an appointment to give blood or platelets because typically in the summer months we do see a decline in donations.”

The Red Cross’ Sue Thesenga says shortages in A, B and O blood types, in particular, can have an impact on patient care. She says donating is easy by downloading the free Red Cross blood donor app or visit redcrossblood.org.
