Minneapolis has recorded its largest-ever number of drug overdoses in one week — 50, between May 28th and June 3rd. Fifteen of those overdoses, including one fatality, occurred last Sunday alone.   Spokesman John Elder says police can’t attribute it to a tainted batch of one particular drug:

“These overdoses are occurring across multiple different drugs, whether it’s the counterfeit oxycodone or it’s methamphetamines or it’s heroin.”

The majority of overdose calls came from the area around the East Phillips neighborhood in south Minneapolis. Saint Paul and Washington County have also issued “overdose alerts” in recent days.
