Diabetes remains the 7th leading cause of death in the United States and more and more Americans are being diagnosed daily.
“Diabetes is a growing problem, including here in Mankato,” VINE’s Diabetes Prevention Program Coordinator, Katie Simon said.
VINE Faith in Action is committed to helping fight this epidemic by offering a free diabetes program to help those locally effected by the disease.
VINE’s free Diabetes Prevention Program helps people lose weight, eat healthier, get active, and reduce their risk of developing diabetes. A lifestyle coach and class members offer help and support over the course of a year. All adults at risk of diabetes are welcome including people with physical, sensory and mild intellectual disabilities.
VINE is offering an informational meeting on the program for those interested on Tuesday, May 14 from 3:30-4:30 pm at the VINE Adult Community Center. The classes will begin on Wednesday, June 19.
The program is free and open to the public.
