Governor Walz reiterated today that he’s waiting for a “real offer” from Republicans in budget negotiations–which aren’t set to resume until Sunday evening. However, Walz and legislative leaders will be attending Saturday’s fishing opener in Albert Lea and the governor says he remains optimistic.

“The respect and the relationships in this are strong, it doesn’t mean that we don’t get a little heated, it doesn’t mean that I wasn’t deeply disappointed that I did not get a real offer back, but there’s time to think about that, but we’ll be out on that boat, talking, getting it done.”

Walz and Republicans remain in a deadlock over taxes and spending–with under two weeks left in the legislative session.
