As the #2/3 Minnesota State men’s hockey prepares to face-off against #13 Bowling Green Saturday night for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association post-season tournament title and the Jeff Sauer championship trophy, athletic department officials announced that doors to the facility will open early at 5:45 pm in anticipation of a capacity crowd.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early and take advantage of various food and drink specials that will be available in the lobby before the concourse and seating areas in the arena open as normally scheduled. Prior to the team’s facing off on the ice, the Maverick Machine performance band will go head-to-head with their Bowling Green counterparts in a “Battle of the Bands” beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the lobby. The Maverick cheer team and “Stomper” will be on hand to add to a festive pre-game atmosphere.

On Sunday, the Mavericks will host a watch party event at Pub 500 for the NCAA Selection Show. The public is invited, with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. and the section show airing at 6:00 p.m. on ESPNU. Head coach Mike Hastings and members of the Minnesota State men’s hockey team will be on hand and share some remarks following the announcement of the 16-team men’s ice hockey tournament field.
