Owatonna Senior High School went into lockdown Monday afternoon after a fight broke out that appears to have involved racially offensive comments made on social media over the weekend.

School officials said there was a large group of students shouting and being disruptive in the commons area and gymnasium and the lock-down was ordered but not all students were cooperative.

The Owatonna Police Department said there were no injuries and they aren’t aware of any physical altercations between students. They added that social media reports of weapons being involved in the disturbance are not true.

One teen was taken into custody for assaulting a law enforcement officer, a second for obstructing legal process, and a third was ticketed and released for trespassing.
