The legacy of Anthony Ford lives on through many ways, including the annual pond hockey classic that will be taking place this weekend.

Anthony was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and died at age 9. Throughout his 18-month battle, Anthony lived his life to the fullest, determined to never allow the disease to interfere with doing the things that he loved, including hockey.

Robin Ford is Anthony’s mom. She says he picked the number 99 after Wayne Gretzky, who was also called the great one. She says she feels Anthony’s legacy is also a great one.

This is the 11th year of the Anthony Ford Pond Hockey Classic.
