A Lake Crystal man is now facing charges connected to a crash at the end of September, in which he was life-flighted to Rochester to be treated for a traumatic brain injury.
Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Deputies say 23-year-old Justin Young was found in a vehicle near a bean field on County Road 41, after crashing into a utility pole with enough force to pull the bottom of it out of the ground and splinter the top of the pole.
Investigators say Young’s knee was pushed up towards his chest, his right leg was wrapped around the steering wheel, and he was unresponsive. The criminal complaint states that two cans of beer were found at the crash scene.
A blood draw at the hospital registered a.178 blood-alcohol level. He is charged with two counts of drunk driving and one charge for driving an uninsured vehicle.
